At DITBS, we recently took out time and talked with some of the leading CEOs in our hometown. It made us realize that many CEOs want their website designs to be specifically designed as they perceive.

What they fail to understand is that a successful website is one that satisfies the audience rather than satisfying their own personal requirements. It’s one of the widely held misconceptions among CEOs.

But that’s not the only misconception among CEOs when it comes to website development, there are plenty more, and in this article, we will shed light on some of these misconceptions.

Are you interested to learn about them?

Here are the 5 common misconceptions CEOs have about web development.

The 5 Common Misconceptions CEOs Have About Web Development

It Is Easier to Build My Website On My Own

We often carry a false sense of belief that we are the jack of all trades. If we know how to run a business, we can take care of everything, including website design & development. We may be correct to a certain extent, but in all honesty, we can’t be good at everything now, can we?

So we often become victims of a false sense of belief that building a website all on our own is much easier & cost-effective then hiring a professional to do such tasks. As entrepreneurs & business owners, we often resort to website builders like Wix & Weebly to create our digital products.

However, what we don’t realize is that these platforms limit our capabilities to design a website that fulfils the needs and demands of our customers.

Let me ask you this,

  • Do you know what your target audience expects from your product & service?
  • Can you properly dictate that value through stringent website building policies?
  • Would a Wix or Weebly website be properly optimized to rank on search engines?

A professional website agency can often take these complexities out of the equation.

It’s My Website So I ll Dictate the Web Design.

Many CEOs have their mindsets, and they want those mindsets to be dictated into their website design.

As company owners, we are often faced with the urge to dictate the design to our website designers as we want it to be. Micromanagement is a natural trait that every boss or leader comes to when they want nothing less than perfection. However, in the wake of doing so, most business owners often fail to understand that micromanagement can often lead to design flaws that we (non-techies can’t anticipate). A web designer who has years of experience mastering the use of the correct colour palettes or choosing the perfect design elements knows plenty more about the target audience than we do.

Here’s the big question:

Do you want to satisfy your need for a perfect product?

OR

Do you want a website design that converts?

The suggestions a professional would come up with or things they will consider to build your website will not satisfy your requirements. Instead, it will focus on what your customer wants.

Everyone Should Take Part in the Website Project

Another widely held misconception that we (business owners) often fall into is bringing in all the board members and managers onboard. Well, that’s just wrong because unless you want your website design to turn into a fish market, you shouldn’t bring the entire lot in the website design process.

A web designer has a sophisticated mind and plenty of experience creating similar websites. If you’ve hired one from an agency, these guys have likely been training themselves for years in working with similar products and services that you’re about to sell through your website.

So, you should give them enough space to work on your digital product.

Bringing in an entire team of decision-makers will create conflicts and disturb the web designer from giving you exactly what you desire. You will only end up getting more confused.

A Website Design Agency Will Take Care of Everything

Hate to break it, but not exactly.

Here’s a widely held myth that we often find ourselves engulfed in. We believe that if we have hired a web design agency to perform the task of creating an attention-grabbing, lead generating & number-crunching website design for business; we are free from all the worries. These guys are liable to put together the perfect website design, which will win our audience & get us immense business opportunities.

Well, not exactly.

Even though they can take action all on their own and give you just the product you need, you must stay connected with them throughout the process.

Most website design agencies follow agile methodology to put together your website. You should stay in touch with them and participate throughout the development process.

There will be times when these designers have questions, and you should always be there to answer them. Don’t feel agitated, disturbed or conflicted when they ask you questions about your service or product. Instead, give them rational answers. In the long run, you will get a perfect product.

Once a Website is Complete, We Don’t Need Backend Services

Now, here’s one of the mistakes that we often make. We let go of our web design & development team once our website development project concludes. Instead, we hire a mid-level developer to govern the third party integrations, updates and code iterations when and where it is necessary to implement.

I’m afraid that’s not right.

There will be times when you will need an experienced hand governing the backend processes of your website. But you can’t depend on a mid-level developer to do it all for you. They can disturb the coding, bring the website down, or integrate non-verified third-party integrations.

Such practices must be governed by a professional.

At DITBS, we provide website design & development services that can carefully help you with such processes. Our teams are highly interactive & have deep knowledge of the market norms. They can help you build your next-generation website and make it a profitable digital solution.
